I want to make two points about it:
- I don't know any leftist who is this extreme, and most of the people I know are leftists. I never doubted that such extreme positions were held by a minority of people, but we can't use them as an excuse to tar less extreme people with the same brush and use it as an excuse to dismiss them all. If that were an acceptable practice, then if you wanted to discredit a particular social or political group, all you'd have to do is find one person in that group who believes something absurd, and hey presto! The whole group is not worth engaging with. It seems to me better to recognise that, no matter what position you hold religiously or politically, there will be people on your side who are embarrassing and not representative of the group. To stop rational debate from being stifled, it would be good not to judge everyone by the most extreme members.
- The way you, Ondrej, have characterised the media, makes it sound as if they are themselves extreme leftists who only target right-wingers for their cancel culture and censorship. But this example proves that to be false. Both extremes are treated with equal severity.
